I just got off the phone with MS premier support regarding a problem
with the Win32_quickfixengineering class of WMI. The
Win32_quickfixengineering class is used to enumerate all hotfixes installed
on a system. Any attempt to enumerate the Win32_quickfixengineering class
after installing SRP1 will cause the CPU utilization to go to 100%. Check
out http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q279225
<http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q279225> for more
details. I just installed this hotfix and it does resolve the problem.
However, it seems very odd that a year old hotfix is needed to patch a week
old rollup patch. This issue is only in there "internal" knowledebase, so I
thought I'd pass it along. Regards, Bruce
