And, because it's from Microsoft, they only did it half-a$$ed --
digitally signed and encrypted messages will *not* be affected by the
MS "ReadAs Plain". Reading the KB article carefully suggests some
interesting things about Outlook's internal message handling and
strongly suggests that this MS "fix" to a problem entirely of MS'
making is applied at the wrong point in the message handling code.

As is now quite common for many MS fixes...

I heard it was coming, but my source was uncertain as to where it
would first be released. Perhaps now MS has proven it can do
*something* about not rendering HTML, it will provide a fully
functional version in SP2? (More likely we will have to wait until
Outlook 2004 (??).

Absolutely.

Despite this not being a fully adequate implementation, it is
certainly "good enough for now".
