I have noticed a similar occurence after installing this patch. For some
reason when this is installed, W2K seems to be unable to access certain
local websites (using the machine name) reporting Session timeouts.
However, if you specify the IP address or localhost it appears to work.
I have installed this patch on many (100+) computers and this has only
occured on about 15-20 of them. The problem seems to be resolved by
reinstalling IE and the patch again. However this hasn't worked 100% of the
time either.

I just installed MS01-055 on my NT SP6a workstation. I use PWS to develop
sites before rolling them out to our production IIS Servers. For some stupid
reason PWS no longer retains Session variables after the install of the I.E.
Security update.
