Russ, et.al.
For anyone who uses servers with Compaq SMART RAID controllers:
On 8/7/2001, Compaq released an updated driver for the SMART/2 series of
RAID controllers to fix problems with the Windows NT 4.0 Post SP6a
Security Rollup Hot Fix (Q299444). If you install the hot fix on a server
with an older version of the Compaq RAID driver, then the server may
bluescreen with the following error:
STOP 0x0000000A (0xfcc35000, 0xa, 0x00000001, 0x801e092a)
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
The issue is documented on Microsoft's Web Site here:
http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q305/2/28.ASP
and on Compaq's web site here:
http://www.compaq.com/support/files/server/us/download/10541.html
Microsoft has also updated the actual Q299444 Hot Fix article:
http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q299/4/44.asp
The issue impacts any servers with the following RAID controllers:
Compaq SMART Array Controller
Compaq SMART-2/E Array Controller
Compaq SMART-2/P Array Controller
Compaq SMART-2DH Array Controller
Compaq SMART-2SL Array Controller
Compaq Smart Array 3200 Controller
Compaq Smart Array 3100ES Controller
Compaq Smart Array 221 Controller
By the way, is it just me or should Microsoft have gone ahead and released
these updates as SP7?
Thanks,
Joe Colleran
