Debian Security Advisory DSA 840-1 security@debian.org

    October 4th, 2005 http://www.debian.org/security/faq
    - --------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Package : drupal
    Vulnerability : missing input sanitising
    Problem-Type : remote
    Debian-specific: no
    CVE ID : CAN-2005-2498

Stefan Esser of the Hardened-PHP Project reported a serious vulnerablility
in the third-party XML-RPC library included with some Drupal versions. An
attacker could execute arbitrary PHP code on a target site. This update
pulls in the latest XML-RPC version from upstream.

The old stable distribution (woody) is not affected by this problem since
    no drupal is included.

For the stable distribution (sarge) this problem has been fixed in
    version 4.5.3-4.

For the unstable distribution (sid) this problem has been fixed in
    version 4.5.5-1.

We recommend that you upgrade your drupal package.

    Upgrade Instructions
    - --------------------

    wget url
will fetch the file for you
    dpkg -i file.deb
            will install the referenced file.

If you are using the apt-get package manager, use the line for
    sources.list as given below:

    apt-get update
            will update the internal database
    apt-get upgrade
            will install corrected packages

You may use an automated update by adding the resources from the
    footer to the proper configuration.
