Surprise but microsoft doesnt follow the RFC so if you are using an exchange
server you will probably need to do a no fixup smtp for mail to work
properly.

hi there the problem with the smtp is that . b dfault pix has a smtp fisup
running which allows only the smtp commands by the rfc . if ur servers are
currently using esmtp. which supports authentication the smtp. now esmtp
messages are different that ur smtp messages. so the fixup doesn't recognise
these smtp commands and drops them. the work around. either upgrade ur pix
to 7.0 ios which has fixup for esmtp and smtp . or execute this command
no fixup protocol smtp
