            Their web site is ummm... "content free". The market-ese sounds nice, but
            does anyone have a clue what it actually does?

    Content free? I gleaned this much: it prevents intrusions. :-)
    All kidding aside, http://www.prevx.com/prevxhome.asp and the
    fact that it is free (the non-Pro version) certainly does what
    they intend to do -- entices me try try it on an XP machine at home.
    The only real obvious concern is that it does send supposely anonymous
    information on discovered malware back home.

    Someone who just posted to me asked/said:
     Fred - isn't this what most host intrusion prevention solutions do? I would
    say this is the whole reason that HIPS is interesting - Cisco's CSA (Okena);
    Platform Logic (just bought by Symantec); Securewave (partial, I think);
    McAfee Entercept (has signatures, too); Determina (memory firewall only);
    Harris Stat Neutralizer; etc...

    Sure. I want something that works and is attractive to all including
    the small enterprise or home user as well.

    Fred
