No, wait, you don't understand how it works. The time that design
alternatives should be examined is *BEFORE* code gets written.
Back in the day, many alternatives to the overcomplex approaches
taken in IPV6 were offered, but the priesthood was dead set on
doing a Big New Protocol. After a while, the sensible people
decided they had other things to do.
Now? Now it's too _late_
